It’s almost Spider season – time to sort out that phobia

A few nights ago I spotted a very large spider moving speedily through my kitchen. I’m not phobic but I insist the big ones live outside – so out it went.

In my pre-hypno days I had no idea there was such a thing as spider season but there is and it’s almost here. Studies identify mid-September to mid-October as the height of the season, as the males go on the hunt for a mate.

Only you can decide if the problem is significant enough to seek help. If it’s debilitating and starting to affect your life or you’re concerned about passing it onto your children it’s time to bring in the professionals.

Practical tips include:

  1. extra vacuuming – high and low level,
  2. removing webs,
  3. filling gaps between walls, pipework and under doors
  4. removing places spiders hang out (wood piles, compost heaps) and
  5. controlling lighting to deter insects.
